UV Doux Sunscreen general information

What is UV Doux Sunscreen used for?

UV Doux Sunscreen is a light sunscreen gel that is used to protect the skin from harmful exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.  Although UV light comprises only a small portion of natural sunlight, prolonged exposure to UV radiation is the major cause of skin cancers and skin damage.  UVB affects the outer skin layers and is essential in small amounts to make vitamin D, an important vitamin for regulating calcium metabolism, maintaining bone health, and for many other functions in the body.  Melanin is the pigment gives the skin its colour and the amount of melanin increases following moderate exposure to UV.  However, exposure to large amounts of UVB for long periods can cause sunburn, skin damage and contribute to skin cancers.  UVB is readily absorbed by the DNA of skin cells and this causes damage at a molecular level, triggering changes in skin cell growth which can lead to skin cancer.  UVA also causes skin damage, sunburn and skin cancers, but it can penetrate to deeper layers of the skin and cause premature aging, such as wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, and dark patches, known as age or liver spots.  UV exposure can also cause pre-cancerous skin changes called actinic keratosis, which is characterised by dry, rough, scaly patches on the skin.  Both UVA and UVB can have long-term, harmful effects on the immune system and the eye as well as the skin.  UV Doux Sunscreen provides SP 50 protection, which is a high sun protection factor and is suitable for all skin types, incliding oily or sensitive skin and skin that is sensitive to sunlight.  It is also an emollient (helps moisturise the skin), provides high sweat and water resistance, is non-comedogenic (protects against clogged pores that can lead to acne), has anti-aging properties and is suitable for makeup foundation.

How does UV Doux Sunscreen work?

UV Doux Sunscreen is a silicone based sunscreen containing a combination of ingredients that provide high sun protection over a wide spectrum (280-400nm), which covers UVA and UVB.  Bemotrizinol in UV Doux Sunscreen is an oil soluble organic compound that acts as a chemical UV blocker and absorbs UV rays, covering the entire range of UVA, and also provides some protection against UVB.  It is also photostable (not degraded by sunlight) and is also not significantly absorbed into the skin.  Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in UV Doux Sunscreen are physical UV blockers that remain on the surface of the skin acting as mineral filters reflecting the UV rays, thereby, proving a barrier layer of protection against harmful UV rays.  Zinc oxide has the broadest UV protection spectrum and titanium dioxide protects against UVB and the shorter UVA wavelengths, so that between them there is a protective barrier against the full range.  UV Doux Sunscreen has a silicone elastomer gel base that provides a light, smooth, silky, non-greasy feel on the skin, is easy to spread, non-sticky and absorbs rapidly into the skin.  It also absorbs sebum, the oily secretion of the sebaceous gland of the skin, reducing the risk of clogging pores, which can cause acne.  When spread over the skin the silicone elastomer gel base forms a protective film, which offers high water and sweat resistance.  UV Doux Sunscreen is hypoallergenic, with low risk for inducing skin allergy or irritation, while providing high sun protection (SP50).

What does UV Doux Sunscreen contain?

UV Doux Sunscreen contains the active ingredients zinc oxide, titanium dioxide and bemotrizinol in a silicone elastomer gel base, used to protect skin against the harmful effects of UV radiation from the sun.

UV Doux Sunscreen for protection again UV radiation

UV Doux Sunscreen is a light silicone based sunscreen gel that is used to protect the skin from harmful exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.  Although UV light comprises only a small portion of natural sunlight, prolonged exposure to UV radiation is the major cause of skin cancers and skin damage.  UV Doux Sunscreen contains a combination of ingredients that provide high sun protection (SP 50) over a wide spectrum (280-400nm), which covers both UVB, which affects mainly the upper layers of the skin and UVA, which penetrates to the lower layers of the skin.  UV Doux Sunscreen contains two physical barriers that reflect UV rays and a chemical barrier that absorbs UV rays.  When applied, UV Doux Sunscreen does not feel greasy or sticky, is suitable for sensitive skin, being a low risk for skin allergy or irritation, and is suitable for all skin types. UV Doux Sunscreen is also an emollient (helps moisturise the skin), provides high sweat and water resistance, is non-comedogenic (protects against clogged pores that can lead to acne), has anti-aging properties and is suitable for makeup foundation.

What are the side effects of UV Doux Sunscreen?

UV Doux Sunscreen is not significantly absorbed into the skin and rarely causes skin irritation; however, it is always best to carry out a skin test first to ensure there is no reaction.

When should UV Doux Sunscreen not be used?

You should not use UV Doux Sunscreen if you:

How should UV Doux Sunscreen be used?

You should apply your UV Doux Sunscreen to all areas of the skin that will be exposed to the sun, including the face, ears, hands and feet.  You should apply your UV Doux Sunscreen to dry skin 20 minutes before going outdoors into the sun.  Add a small amount to the palm of your hand, around half a teaspoon each for the face, each arm, stomach and lower back, using a little more for each leg and for the middle and upper back.  Place dots of UV Doux Sunscreen over the area to be covered and then spread carefully, using the fingertips for the face (including the ears and neck) and using the palms of the hands for the rest of the body.  You should reapply your UV Doux Sunscreen every 2 hours if staying out in the sun for more than an hour and also after swimming or excessive sweating
